Carpool from Ikeja to Victoria Island
From Allen Avenue, Alausa, Ikeja GRA and Maryland to VI over Third Mainland Bridge: when rides start, you’ll share the drive with verified professionals. The waitlist is open and pickup points are being set up.
via Maryland and Third Mainland Bridge
The road: mainland to Island, the long way
Ikeja to VI is a mainland-to-Island trip in the full sense. Most cars come down through Maryland and cross the lagoon on Third Mainland Bridge, then cut across Lagos Island to VI. Forty-five minutes on a good day, two hours on a bad one.
If you live in Ikeja and work in VI, you already know the maths of leaving at 6:00 to avoid leaving at 6:30. A carpool doesn’t change the bridge. It changes who you’re sitting with, and it means you’re paying for a seat, not the whole car.
Pickup points: being set up
Pickup points here are still being set up. We’re looking at landmarks Ikeja already uses, with space for a car to pull in. Likely places include:
- Ikeja City Mall, Alausa
- Allen Avenue roundabout
- Ikeja Along
- Ikeja GRA
- Maryland Mall
- Victoria Island
These aren’t in road order yet: the order will follow the drive to Third Mainland once the points are set. Start in Ogba, Agege or Palmgrove? Join with your area; each is on the form.
Morning and evening times
Morning pickups are planned for 6:00 to 7:00 am, because the bridge decides everything after that. Heading home, cars will leave VI between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. You choose the time you usually leave when you join, and rides will only run between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm.
Every ride will be confirmed ahead: morning rides the evening before, rides home by 4:30 pm on the day. If someone can’t make it, Simbi, Ganusii’s WhatsApp assistant, will offer the seat to someone else on the route or tell everyone who is riding.
